What do you hope to communicate with our audience through your work?
The dramaturgy of the video dance follows the sequence of preparing and sharing a lemonade. The director/performer, Yanina, intimately approaches the acidic fluids of the lemon to stimulate a visceral bodily response. The choreography interprets the sour-sweet experience of Lemonade in the mouth; in analogy to the sour-sweet experience of a sexuality that is both wounded and pleasurable. Likewise, the body opens up to interpret the scar of gender violence, its own and the transgenerational. It is not in the director's interest to represent the original wound because it is re-traumatizing. She proposes to embody the scar to enunciate in the present a sour-sweet complexity: we are resilience and bliss. The dance unfolds to give expression to the complex sexuality that emerges in a wet, open and pleasurable body.
La dramaturgia de la obra sigue la secuencia de preparar y compartir una limonada para componer la coreografÃa. La intérprete se acerca de manera Ãntima los fluÃdos ácidos del limón para estimular una respuesta corporal visceral. La coreografÃa interpreta la experiencia agri-dulce de la Limonada en la boca; en analogÃa a la experiencia agri-dulce de una sexualidad herida y gozosa a la vez. Asà mismo, la cuerpa se abre para interpretar la cicatriz de la violencia de género, la propia y la transgeneracional. No me interesa representar la herida original porque me resulta re-traumatizante. Me interesa acuerpar la cicatriz para enunciar en el presente una complejidad agri-dulce: somos resiliencia y plenitud. La danza se desenvuelve para darle expresión a la sexualidad compleja que surge en una cuerpa mojada, abierta y en placer.
Yanina Orellana is a mexican dancer and videodance director. She presented "Laboratorio de Videodanza "Nuestro Altar": collective rituals for the bodies and their memories" at the Jalisco International Dance Festival 2022. Orellana was a jury member of the International Videodance Competition "Donde pongo el ojo, pongo la danza" of the Festival Apantalla. She gave a presentation on Direction and Audiovisual Language for the program "Focus the Body" of Secretaria Jalisco. She is part of the "SintropÃa Audiovisual" collective, which in 2023 was selected by the Mexican Institute of Cinematography to give audiovisual training workshops. She earned a BFA in Dance from CalArts.
Yanina Orellana es bailarina y directora de videodanza mexicana. Presentó "Laboratorio de Videodanza "Nuestro Altar": rituales colectivos para las cuerpas y sus memorias" en el Festival Internacional de Danza de Jalisco 2022. Orellana fue jurado del Concurso Internacional de Videodanza "Donde Pongo el Ojo Pongo la Danza" del Festival Apantalla. Impartió la ponencia de Dirección y Lenguaje Audiovisual para el programa Focus the Body de Secretaria Jalisco. Ella es parte del colectivo "SintropÃa Audiovisual", que en el 2023 fue seleccionado por el Instituto Mexicano de CinematografÃa para impartir talleres de formación audiovisual. Ella obtuvo la Licenciatura en Danza en CalArts
